Retirement Helmet Shield

A handmade wooden commemorative shield modeled on the fire helmet shield — your company number, rank, name, and years of service, with every color and letter inlaid into the wood itself. No stickers, no laminate — just solid, lasting inlay. A classic 14-inch-wide oak shield with two or three colors runs about $150; larger sizes, added colors, and finer detail adjust the price. A distinguished way to mark a retirement or promotion.

Every piece I make is meant to honor a legacy — a career given to the fire service, a promotion earned, a retirement well deserved. Having spent thirty years on the job myself, I understand what those milestones represent, and I hold every commission to that standard: distinguished, enduring, and worthy of the name it carries.

And after thirty years, my own retirement isn't far off — which means I've sat through enough send-offs to know exactly what makes a gift worth keeping, and what quietly ends up in a drawer. I build for the first kind.
